GIBSON’S SHOE FACTORY INC. PHILIPPINES

The story behind today’s one of the most recognized name in the manufacture of uniform footwear, particularly combat boots, dress shoes and safety shoes in the Philippines.

 

Gibson’s Shoe Factory Inc. is a 100% Filipino owned shoe manufacturing company located in Marikina City, the shoe capital of the Philippines. The company has a proud 67-year heritage of providing uniform footwear for the men and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police.

In the mid-1940s, Gibson’s was established and founded by couple Gavino Cruz and Ramona Salvador as a mere casual shoemaker. From the production of casual shoes, Gibson’s in the early 70’s, diversified its operation to venture into the field of military shoemaking.

In 1974, the company was passed on to their daughter Leonor Andres in Marikina City. The company was then renamed as Gibson’s Shoe Enterprises.

In the following year 1975, Gibson’s was accredited by the Department of National Defense   as one of its suppliers of Goodyear welted shoes and Direct Molded Soled (DMS) combat boots. From the production of casual shoes, Gibson’s diversified its operation to venture into the field of military shoemaking.

In 1994, due to the significant increase in capital structure and expanded operations the enterprise was changed into a corporation and the company was renamed Gibson’s Shoe Factory Inc. The company has integrated the family members as stockholders with Leonor C. Andres as Chairwoman, husband Antonio E. Andres Sr. as President, son Antonio C. Andres Jr. as Vice President, Marilyn C. Andres as HR Manager and daughter Arlene C. Andres as General Manager.

To date, the company has 4 manufacturing plants all situated in Marikina City Philippines.

It is by far the most technologically advanced shoe manufacturer in uniform footwear in the Philippines having among others, the following cutting edge equipment for shoemaking:

•    DESMA Direct Injection Sole Molding Machine from Germany (18 stations}
•    RO-SEARCH Vulcanizing Machine from USA
•    Electro-Hydra Lasting Machines from Germany
•    Goodyear Welt Stitching Machine from USA

In 2011,  Gibson’s  acquired a new  unit of rubber roller machine that further enhanced its own rubber milling.  This complemented its rubber milling and compounding machines and open press curing machines eliminating flaws in the rubber compounds and insuring high performance shoe soling quality for vulcanized rubber soled shoes and boots.

For more than 38 years already, Gibson’s has been a prime supplier to the Department of National Defense and the Armed Forces of the Philippines supplying MILSPECS Tropical Combat Boots, Hot Weather and Dress Shoes, (Clarino) Hi-gloss. Gibson’s proudly enjoys being the most recognized name in uniform footwear by the Philippine Federation of Footwear Industries.

Gibson’s shoes, specifically combat boots and PU, hi-gloss (clarino) dress shoes, is the footgear of choice by the men and women of the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Navy, Philippine Marines, Philippine National Police and the cadets of the Philippine Military Academy, Philippine Merchant Marine Academy and Philippine National Police Academy. The company also supplies military footwear products to other law enforcement and security personnel, ROTC cadets and other AFP/PNP uniform retailers.

In 1996, Gibson’s developed a line of safety shoes for workers including those in the shipping industry, power generation oil exploration, telecommunications, mining, logistics and other related industries. This line of safety shoes combines all the safety design elements of industrial footwear that passed OHSC and ANZI standards. Gibson’s safety shoes have a competitive feature design that enhances its style.

The company now manufactures the safety shoes of the sailors of the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Coastguard. Also Gibson’s supplies the safety shoes of industrial workers of leading companies and corporations including those in shipping industry, power generation, oil exploration, telecommunications, mining, logistics and other related industries.

In CY2006, Gibson’s was adjudged as the best manufacturer of military and safety shoes by the Philippine Brilliance Award for Products and Services.

In 2008, Gibson’s has manufactured the PNP Patrol Shoes consistent with the NAPOLCOM/PNP specifications, S-2008 as amended. This new high performance footwear has been exclusively made for the Police Force in the performance of their law enforcement duties.

In addition to serving the armed forces and the police forces, the company through its distributors abroad has sold military shoes in neighboring ASEAN countries. Moreover, Gibson’s listens to its customers, provides local service and customer care in order to satisfy customer requirements for performance, durability, and comfort on our military shoes.
